John Blayney

John Joseph Blayney, KSG was a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ireland from 1992 until 1997,[1] when he retired from a long legal career, and his position on the bench was filled by Justice Henry Denis Barron.[2] During his retirment, he acted as chairman to the Blayney Inquiry into the "professional and business conduct" of a number of major Irish accountants and accounting firms.[3] Blayney has, on several occasions, sat on the bench for the European Court of Human Rights.[4][5]

Blayney played rugby union for Ireland earning one cap in 1950.[6][7]
